START SAYING YES

For years I always believed that to lose weight you had to say NO.  No to sweets, no to fat, no to taste.

But for me, when I started a Keto diet all of that changed.  I started saying YES. Yes to weight loss, yes to taste, yes to more energy, yes to clearer thinking, yes to glowing skin… YES YES YES.

What if I told you you could eat things that tasted amazing and were good for you? This is part of the reason why I have continued the Keto lifestyle for over 5 years.

Keto helped me lose weight, feel AMAZING, eat delicious foods I loved – all without an ounce of guilt.

WHAT IS THE KETO DIET?

It seems like the latest craze.  Everyone seems to be talking about it or adopting some form of it. It was the most googled diet in 2018.  But the keto diet isn’t new.  It’s been around for thousands of years.  So, what is it?

In a nutshell, the ketogenic diet is a low carb, moderate protein, and high-fat eating diet.  It involves limiting carbohydrate intake and replacing it with fat.  When you do this, your body usually enters a metabolic state, called ketosis.  This is where your body uses fat as its chief form of fuel rather than carbohydrates.

BENEFITS OF A KETO DIET

For years we have been told that fat is bad for our health.  But a diet, which is low in carbs and high in fats, has many benefits including:

  • Weight loss
  • Higher good cholesterol
  • Reduced sugar cravings and appetite
  • Helps clear the skin by improving acne
  • May reduce the risk of certain cancers
  • Improves heart health
  • May assist brain function
  • Digestive support
  • Supports hormonal health

WHAT ARE KETO MACROS?

It is important to have a good understanding of what we need to eat on a ketogenic diet. In order to get into ketosis and stay in ketosis, we need to be consuming the right amount macros (or macronutrients).

Macronutrients are the nutrients our bodies need to give us energy. The main three we need to focus on are fats, carbohydrates and proteins.
